Between the outer ring and the interior ring is a large open area in which a million or so galaxies are positioned. The inner ring serves as an abode for some descendants of the architects, from which they can monitor the status of everything. The inner ring also serves as a machine which is used to negate certain laws of physics, which enable the existence of the obscenely gigantic star at the center.
Where to start? The graphic on the main page is meant to serve as a visualization aid, and a pretty handy manner in which to link together differing portions of the site. It is not meant to serve as a realistic depiction of the way Mechina would actually look. Here's why:
If you are upset by such inconsistencies then let me introduce you to a concept with which you may be unfamiliar; artistic license. Which means that I am not necessarily interested in a realistic visualization of the subject, but rather an image that the human mind has a chance of understanding. Besides, the artistic picture is much prettier than a true representation would be. (did I mention that I am a visual artist as well as a wanna be writer?)
There is most likely a long list of natural laws that this construct, in its present form, is breaking. My goal is to stay true to known laws of physics in dealing with the form and function of the Mechina universe. However one of the enjoyable aspects of science fiction is starting with the premise that we (Humans) misunderstand a law, or playing the game of 'what if?'. I would like to provide an exhaustive treatise describing how Mechina functions, however since I lack a few necessary requirements, mainly expertise in every field, and the desire to actually do it, I won't.
So if you find some nagging question I have not addressed which makes you ask "What the hell was this idiot thinking?!' it is probably because I have not thought of it. Drop me a line with your thoughts on the process, and maybe we can restore order to the universe.
